Research
Aalto University will focus on research about significant global questions.
In connection with the preparations for the new university, a call for ideas was announced to researchers and research groups regarding research projects that would draw upon the expertise of all the three universities. Three applications were selected and they are:
- Sustainable Communities
- aivoAALTO (Neuro Applications)
- Economics and the Internet of the Future
aivoAALTO Project Leader Riitta Hari awarded Finnish Science Prize
The Finnish Science Prize 2009 was awarded to Professor Riitta Hari.
Professor Hari has headed the Brain Research Unit of the Low Temperature Laboratory at Helsinki University of Technology since 1982. Professor Hari is also the Project Leader of the aivoAALTO research project at Aalto University. The 85,000 euro prize was conferred by the Minister of Education and Science, Henna Virkkunen, and the Director General of the Academy of Finland, Markku Mattila.
The Finnish Science Prize is awarded every other year in recognition of high-standard and internationally significant scientific research; the 2009 Prize was the seventh in order.
