Board of the Aalto University Foundation: strong and wide-ranging academic and industrial expertise

The rectors of the universities to combine into the Aalto University (HSE, TaiK and TKK) state that the Board announced today is what the partner universities and the university community as a whole had hoped for. The board members have strong and wide-ranging academic and industrial expertise as well as expertise in the fields represented by the partner universities. In the preparatory phase, the views of the university boards, staff and students have been taken into consideration regarding the composition of the board and the background and expertise required of the future board members. It was also considered important that the appointees have vast and wide-ranging international experience.

The rectors are particularly pleased with the fact that the appointment has been made in constant dialogue between the founders, the universities involved, their staff and students. This shows that the sponsors are highly committed to the key principles stated in the foundation charter, namely ensuring the independence of the new university, respecting academic ethics as well as assuring the high standard of academic activities.

The rectors wish the foundation board success in its challenging task and give it their full support.
